"Pursue that flighty temptress, adventure"
Prepare to be terrified: Meredith's inner thoughts, uncensored. So, in the mighty words of J.K. Rowling, "Let us step into the night, and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure."

I also love murals and outdoor sculptures, because there's nothing quite like public art that says "We care about this neighborhood and what it looks like. It matters to us." And it was my good fortune this summer to visit some places and appreciate some art. Stop 1: Museum of Fine Arts, BostonIn early June, my mom and I were in Boston for a few days before my orientation. We went to a Red Sox game, did some shopping, and spent the days with some of my mom's friends from college. But the best thing we did was go the Museum of Fine Arts. They have a great collection and I'm so grateful that I'll have access to such a great museum during college. Stop 2: Downtown Santa FeIn mid-late June I was a part of the Idlewild youth mission trip to the Navajo Nation in New Mexico. We lived on the reservation for a week and split into groups to help different members of the community with different projects. I could go on and on about my time there, and honestly the trip deserves its own blog post. At the end of the trip we spent a day in downtown Santa Fe, which is beautiful and we were lucky to have great weather the day we were there. And the downtown area had very cool sculptures, pottery, and jewelry everywhere you looked. Stop 3: The Art Institute of Chicago On our way out west, my family had a six hour layover in Chicago. We were able to store our luggage at the train station, and walked all the way to the Art Institute. I hadn't been there since my 7th grade class trip, and when we went on a scavenger hunt there. A scavenger hunt is not a great way to see an art museum by the way. You're too busy rushing around to the next thing to actually enjoy the art, and you're probably missing a lot of great pieces. Especially at the Art Institute of Chicago, which is full of amazing pieces from the world's most renowned artists. At one point, Griffin and I walked into a random room, and it had several Georgia O'Keefe pieces. But if we had been rushing through the rooms, we easily could have missed them. It was so crazy to see famous pieces that I had only ever seen in games, books, or as prints in our home. Stop 4: The museum of Anthropology, UBCThe last art museum I visited this summer was the Museum of Anthropology, which is located at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. The campus itself is beautiful, and the museum itself is very nice. I especially liked the totem poles and canoes, because I can only imagine how many hours of work were put into smoothing the wood and turning it into an image. However, the museum had a large collection of native art and jewelry as well. Thanks for sticking with me :)
